Hosts Abel Salazar &

invites you to participate in our very lively Open Mic Night Jam (starting at
7:30), where local professionals try new things and beginners are welcome and
encouraged to get started. Our patrons and local venue owners enjoy reviewing
all of the talent the Bay Area and Houston have to offer. We have enjoyed a wide
variety of genres, from Salsa to Western, Blues, Folk and Country. Original music
is always greatly appreciated. Local venue owners from the Clear Lake area are
usually in the crowd also looking for new talent to present in their Clubs as
we are.
The hosts of
the Claudio's Monday Jam have announced that musicians participating in the jam
will have their name placed in a drawing that night for a $25 gift card. The drawing
will be held at 10pm and you must be present to win. Names of participants are
submitted via the jam sign up list at 10pm each Monday. (If you are on the list
at 10pm your name is submitted.) Good luck! We
provide a full PA, 8 channel mixer, Bose speakers. 2 Microphones. One monitor.

REVIEW
FROM L.A. JAZZ SCENE Liberation Juan
Manuel (Artist Unlimited) By: Jonathan Barg Juan
Manuel plays both acoustic and electric guitars in this fine showcase effort.
The eight-selection CD spans his talent for classical, flamenco, blues and jazz
styles. Rather than recording a disc of solo tunes, he has invited an ensemble
of other talented musicians to help. His finger picking style on "La Vida
Sin Blues" sells this solid blues number and the fat trombone of Sal Gonzales
rounds out this excellent tune. "Izabelle" features the alto saxophone
of David Caceres and the tune really grooves with a Dave Koz type feel. This is
a tight, together selection where Manuel adds his touches but wisely lays back
and lets the alto take center stage. "Asian Rainbow" is a hot contemporary
jazz number where Manuel's classical guitar plays in harmony with Caceres' alto
sax. This selection is perfect for sailing down Pacific Coast Highway in your
new sports car on the way to your beach house for a week long vacation. There's
no way to listen to this tune and not feel happy. Liberation is a very polished
musical work, made even more impressive since I learned much of it was recorded
in one take. If you'd like to experience contemporary jazz guitar and sax that
is cool, that swings, that's bluesy and introspective all on the same CD, then
this is it. Let's look forward to future works by Sen(or Juan Manual. A rising
star, to be sure. Information on the artist and ordering the CD, visit the web

Open Mic and Jam Night" May 5th
Steve Liddell Featured Artist May 5th |
Steve Liddell Music Folk Rock / Soul / Pop
Music has always been a major part of Steve Liddell's life. As a kid he remembers
the weekends listening old records of the great Soul singers such as Millie Jackson,
Teddy Pendergrass, Jackson 5 and Prince. As he got older, he began singing in
the church choir and was even a member of a trio singing group.
In
his adolescent and teenage years Liddell was introduced to many new styles of
music ranging from the hip hop sound of LL Cool J, Run DMC, the Beastie Boys and
Whoudini to the New Wave and Rock sounds of The Cure, Duran Duran, 10,000 Maniacs,
Guns n'Roses, Terence Trent D'Arby(Sananda Maitreya) Sinead O'Connor and grooving
sounds of Steely Dan, Hall and Oates, Sade and Edie Brickell. Growing
up in a small rural town he even found an affinity for the honest storytelling
of Classic Country from such bands as Alabama, Ronnie Milsap, George Strait, George
Jones and others. Building off diverse influences from the past and more recent
ones Steve Liddell blends his love for all types of music and adds African and
Latin rhythms to create a sound reminiscent of his influences but still his own. Liddell
writes songs from the heart that speaks to listeners as he shares his experiences
of love and loss and the ever present champion called hope. •
Six years performing his music and playing shows from coast to coast and on the
islands of Hawai'i. Liddell has also performed in the world famous city of Rio
de Janerio, Brazil and recently returned from touring the East Coast and the UK
in the Spring '07. • Liddell has successfully promoted himself regionally
in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas and performed during
SXSW in Austin in 2004, 2005 and 2006. • Steve Liddell's groove-laden
soul rock and handcrafted acoustic songs give this singer-songwriter an honest
folk appeal that helps him win over audiences wherever he performs. "The
gift of Liddell's music is that he's adept at blending styles and making it come
out with a breezy, comforting quality. His jazzy, world-beat vibes go down smooth
and he has the songs and voice to hold court wherever he goes." says Gary
Hizer, Music Editor for the Urban Tulsa Weekly. Matt Gleason,
Music Writer at the Tulsa World Spot Magazine, says "...Steve Liddell's vocals
travel light and passionately over vibrant, groove-oriented landscape that evokes
comparisons to Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, and Lenny Kravitz. Gleason
goes on to say "This artist's new 11-track studio offering, "Goodlove,"
finds the soulful singer bolstering elements of his energetic solo acoustic show
with his full band. Among the disc's highlights are the spicy flamenco stylings
on "The Ballad of Carl and Julie," Latin-flavored, Santana-like riffs
on " Yes,Yes,Yes(Rock You Girl)," and soft Wurlitzer on the intimate
ballad "Plant Me Underground." Liddell is a staple
on the Tulsa Metro and regional college town markets. Sales from his highly anticipated
and well received full band effort cd "Goodlove" have helped get his
music and message out to the world. He will be starting an East Coast tour in
April and then on to Europe. Whether he is rocking the solo
gig or backed by his talented band Steve Liddell's music is inviting and engaging
and is sure to have everyone moving to it's infectious grooves. AWARDS/NOMINATIONS:
